We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Marketing Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in managing the financial transactions related to marketing spend, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, budget tracking, and expense reconciliation. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting experience, a deep understanding of marketing operations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both the finance and marketing teams. They shall also possess a deep sense of accountability and attention to detail, timeliness and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable invoices related to marketing vendors, agencies, contractors, and media purchases.
- Match purchase orders, contracts, and approvals to invoices; resolve discrepancies in collaboration with the marketing team.
- Ensure marketing expenses are properly coded and recorded in accordance with the company’s chart of accounts.
- Monitor marketing budgets and provide regular spend analysis and variance reports to department leads.
- Reconcile monthly marketing vendor accounts and assist with month-end closing procedures.
- Coordinate with the marketing department to ensure timely payments and accurate forecasting of marketing spend.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts and payment schedules.
- Support audit requests and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Assist in preparing accruals for marketing expenses and campaign spend.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of accounting or accounts payable experience; experience with marketing finance is a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Sage Intacct) and Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work across teams.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with marketing terminology and cost structures (e.g., CPM, media buys, agency retainers).
- Experience in a corporate marketing or advertising environment.
- Knowledge of contract management and vendor onboarding processes.
