Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemical Sprayer Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring herbicide, pesticide and fertilizer application processes, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical application processes and be familiar with herbicide technologies and mode of action in relation to current crops, as well as the risks involved with each individual chemical for the crop as well as environmentally and personally . Your ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency will be crucial to your success. Pay will be based on experience with a base rate and an included acre incentive. During seasonal slow periods, this position is required to help where needed on the farm such as operating harvest equipment, cleaning/maintenance, etc.
Duties
- Operate and monitor chemical handling equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of application equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain accurate pesticide application records, including reports of inventory periodically.
- Collaborate with team members on herbicide application improving efficiency and reducing time waste with irrigation of fields.
- Assist in materials handling, including the transport of chemicals and fertilizer within the warehouse environment and field.
- Utilize forklifts as needed for loading and unloading materials, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Utilize semi trucks for transporting water, chemical and fertilizer to field.
- Participate in training sessions on operational procedures and safety guidelines.
- Operate other various farm equipment when sprayer is not in operation.
Experience
- Previous farm experience is required.
- Familiarity with John Deere self propelled sprayers is required.
- Familiarity with John Deere ExactApply is preferred
- 2 years of field spraying is required.
- Familiarity with the operation and repair of rate controllers, flow meters, and section control valves are beneficial.
- Skills in materials handling and warehouse operations are beneficial.
- Knowledge of machining processes or fabrication techniques is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A Class A or Code 14 drivers license preferred, but will be expected to be acquired after the first season.
