Pay Range : $64,736.53 - $80,701.57 annually

POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the Director of Services for Persons with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities, assists and monitor consumers with mental illness, emotional disturbance and individuals with developmental disabilities and individuals with co-occurring substance abuse disorders. Assists professional staff with linking and coordinating behavioral intervention services and ensures that services are provided in a safe and welcoming manner. This includes as a consultant for staff training and use of positive behavioral support plan development, the development of formal behavioral plans, the training of behavioral observations and interventions, and promotion of the use of evidenced based behavioral practices. Also actively participates in the development and implementation of evidence-based therapeutic practices. This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent recovery-based practices; and a trauma informed culture of safety to aid individuals in the recovery process. This position will also sit on various agency committees and act in collaboration with other disciplines or as part of an interdisciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES :
1. Provides a full range of psychotherapeutic services to children and adult mentally / developmentally disabled individuals who are experiencing mental / emotional difficulties and / or family difficulties, to include both individual and group therapy.
2. Will hold a caseload for therapy for individuals with mental illness and / or co-occurring disorders working toward recovery and monitoring of behavior treatment plans. (60% Therapy and 40% behavioral intervention and monitoring of plans.)
3. Provides clinical support and consultation to the Support Coordination Services (SCS) team providing services to individuals with development disabilities. Will be the lead clinician for the team and evidence-based practices.
4. Provides staff consultation and assistance for the development of Positive Support Plans with Case Holders for adults and children.
5. Responsible for ensuring therapeutic outcomes are time -limited, consumer driven, measurable, demonstrate evidence of therapeutic method being used, and are written in a language consumers can understand. In addition, ensure progress notes are reflective of progress towards outcomes.
6. Advocates for consumers needs and makes appropriate referrals for medical evaluation, psychological testing to the assigned Support Coordinator / Case Manager or other agencies when mandated or when appropriate, including Department of Human Services (DHS), Health Department, hospitals, etc.
7. Responsible for maintaining a tracking system of behavioral services to include review of outcomes and overview for identifying appropriate levels or tiers of service.
8. Responsible for adherence to standards for Behavior Treatment Review Committees (BTRC) Standards and other state, federal, and accreditation organization requirements of the use of behavioral treatment.
9. Provides staff consultation and assistance for the development of Positive Support Plans with Case Holders for adults and children.
10. Works directly with individuals and families to help them make desired changes to behaviors.
11. May help the Psychologist in the development of formal treatment plans including assistance with Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), development of behavioral interventions, training / in-servicing of plans to staff, and monitoring implementation of the effectiveness of that plan for an individual consumer.
12. Reviews appropriate literature to support treatment recommendations and to ascertain and support treatment modalities.
13. Identifies behavioral goals, recommends least restrictive behavioral change methods and intervention techniques, develops treatment plan and services, designs, and monitors outcome-based data.
14. Provides individual therapy, using evidence-based practices as requested.
15. Develops and implements therapeutic groups using evidence-based practices.
16. Provides assessments and evaluations as needed.
17. Collaborates with other therapists to assure therapeutic practices are up to date.
18. Monitors the level and quality of support and services provided to consumers in all settings, including customer satisfaction with services. Reviews progress notes, writes progress statements and gives feedback to consumers and caregivers concerning progress.
19. Collaborates closely with the psychiatrist on the team to keep the psychiatrist updated on the individual's response to medication.
20. Work cooperatively with peer support specialists or other agency staff to meet the needs of consumers.
21. When a person resides in a residential setting, it is assured that the treatment plan addresses the services to be provided by the home and that staff are in service on the plan.
22. Completes all needed training and supervision to maintain limited licensure while working towards obtaining full licensure.

24. Performs other functions and duties assigned by the director.
INCIDENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES :
1. Performs various administrative / clerical functions such as preparing travel vouchers, making copies of documents, filing, etc.
2. May attend quality assurance meetings, case consultation meetings and staff meetings.
3. Attend meetings, seminars, workshops, and community events related to the public mental health mission.
4. May occasionally transport consumers to and from agencies and community resources in personal automobile or agency vehicle.
5. React productively to change and manage other essential tasks as assigned.
6. Uses computer hardware and software to perform work related tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT :
Works in clinic setting and provides counseling to individuals diagnosed with mental illness.
developmental / intellectual disabilities and / or substance use disorders. Close contact with consumers who may have a communicable disease, and who may be hostile, aggressive, and / or potentially violent. Works at computer intermittently throughout the workday. May be require travel to multiple locations, sometimes in harsh weather.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Completion of a master's level state accredited clinical program must obtain limited licensure prior to hire.
Experience : A minimum of two-year post- bachelor's degree experience in the human service field is expected. Professional clinical experience working with mental health populations is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications : Valid Michigan Driver's license with a good driving record.
Must be able to apply and obtain a limited licensed Master of Social Work (LLMSW) prior to hire.
Must obtain full licensure after 3 years of hire.

Physical / Mental Requirements :
1. Hearing acuity to converse in person and on telephone.
