Description

SAIC is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Modeling and Simulation to join our team in support the Application Transformation (AppTX) Program and its effort to lift and shift the Air Operations Center (AOC) into the cloud.

This position requires advanced technical experience, with a demonstrated understanding and application of systems administration, integration, Help Desk (HD) principals and process, mission planning/scheduling along with experience in sustainment of existing RedHat Linux systems that are part of the baseline systems. The successful candidate will be effective at face-to-face interaction with customers and other contractors to respond to requests for information, support to technical meetings, technical interchanges and enterprise working groups. The candidate must be able to work independently and represent the program and SAIC at meetings and working groups with government and associate contractors.

This position will be fully onsite at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Day-to-day sustainment, troubleshooting, HD support & upgrades of the installed RedHat Linux (RHEL)-based systems that are part of the cloud-based AOC baseline.
• Assist site personnel with capturing site variances to incorporate into the AppTX CM process, data migration (as required), application tuning, applying security patches, submitting/closing trouble tickets (as required) and configuring the AOC baseline to minimize downtime.
• Attend technical exchange meetings and engineering and integration meetings.
• Submit recommended changes to AppTX configuration management (CM) personnel.
• Provide recommendations on performance and security issues and other items of interest relating to UNIX-flavored systems that are part of the AOC baseline.
• Support AppTX-sponsored test/assessment events such as Development and/or Operational tests.

Qualifications

Required Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills:

• Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar field) and 5 or more years' experience.
• Current DoD Secret security clearance.
• Current IAT Level 2 Certification (Sec or higher).
• Advanced System administration experience in RHEL Operating Systems.
• Experience with scripting such as BASH, Python, and Perl, and/or PowerShell.
• Experience with PKI infrastructure.

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and/or Skills:

• General knowledge/experience in the Global Command and Control-Joint system (GCCS-J), Command and Control (C2) systems (to include M&S systems).
• Familiar with cloud and on-site virtual infrastructure such as AWS and AWS.
• General experience with Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, LDAP, and SQL.
• General system administration experience of Windows Server 2016 .
• Familiar with JBoss and Sybase ASE Databases.
• Administration of computer systems related to domain services, including system startup and shutdown; security and application patch installation; security scanning and remediation; user account, profile, and permission management; system backup and restoration; system service and log management; system auditing; problem report management; performance management; and other IT administration-related services, as directed by the customer.
• Identification of any errors or correction needed to system technical diagrams and documentation, including installation, configuration, and operations & maintenance guides, as well as system/application verification and validation instructions.
• Willingness to become an expert in GCCS-J, how it is used in a cloud-based AOC environment, and to automate typical RHEL and GCCS-J tasks via scripting.
