Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. . Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data. Prepares engineering documentation, reports, drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.). Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications. Undertakes analyses of data where guidelines are provided. SCOPE: N/A PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: N/A FREEDOM TO ACT: Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: N/A KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Full knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Supervision Received: Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. IMPACT: Errors may be difficult to detect and would normally result in loss of customer business, material, or equipment to resolve. LIASON: Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department of which may be a sensitive nature.
Qualifications
Job Description:
This JSC position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity with SAIC to support NASA’s human spaceflight programs. You will inspect and witness testing of the ground-based pressure vessels and pressurized systems and provide technical support and consultation as needed.
Qualifications for candidates:
- Possess both a current API 510 pressure vessel inspection certification and a current API 570 piping inspection certification
- Experience in application of ASME, API, ANSI, and DOT codes and standards
Responsibilities:
- Perform system and pressure vessel inspections for certification
- Witness relief valve set tests
- Witness hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests
- Review and approve/disapprove written procedures and associated documentation
- Review and approve/disapprove vendor test reports for component certification
- Provide technical support and inspection consultation as needed
- Present training classes to JSC personnel
