Interested candidates will have a solid work ethic, passion for quality, high attention to detail, organizational skills, and demonstrate patience and tact with others. Products include beef, pork, veal, lamb, among others.
These positions will normally work 8 to 10 hour shifts Monday through Friday from 7am - 4pm.
Job Description: The Lead Operator will oversee all daily operations of the meat processing plant from production to ensure policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. The Lead Operator delegates tasks and responsibilities to a team of production associates. Responsible for closing the warehouse and communicating with the cleaning company.
Responsibilities
Curing:
- Maintain & run smokehouse
- Tumble bacon
- Hang & smoke bacon
- Monitor temperatures & times
- Injecting hams
- In charge of recipe modification (including organic products)
- Weighing ingredients & spices
- Maintain Spice Inventory & reorders
- Assist with loading smokehouse products onto trucks
Shipping & Receiving (Warehouse):
- Adhere to a strict product schedule
- Load & Unload Trucks with product
- Forklift certified
- Operate Pallet Jacks
- Verify weights, final counts, and other key information for deliveries
- Prepare BOL’s & paperwork to communicate to home office
- Ensure accuracy of product labels
- Label inventory
- Conveyor management of orders for loading
- Palletizing orders
- Maintain batch records & tracking lot #s
- Freezer Inventory Management
- Inventory control systems knowledge
- Pull out raw materials for purchase orders
- Serve as a backup to packaging team
Work Environment
- Must be able to work effectively in refrigerated/cooler environment.
- Moderate to heavy lifting and walking - lifting/carrying to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling to 50 force lbs., reaching, turning, standing, squatting, stooping/bending, equipment operation (meat saw, bone scraper, knives, slicer, band saw, scales, wrapping machine).
- Desire and ability to follow general food safety practices and guidelines as set by the plant and the USDA (GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, SSOPs, SQF systems)
