Position Summary
The Director of Development (DOD) is a key leader within the Advancement team, reporting to and serving as a strategic partner to the Chief Advancement Officer. This role is responsible for designing and implementing strategic initiatives to:
- Increase philanthropic support for the Saint Andrew’s Fund;
- Enhance engagement with Saint Andrew’s alumni worldwide;
- Establish and track key performance metrics, assessing progress toward annual fundraising goals.
Duties And Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer on key strategic initiatives, including but not limited to annual giving, alumni engagement, and planning and executing a comprehensive campaign estimated at up to $100 million.
- Work closely with the Saint Andrew’s Fund team to develop and execute the annual giving strategy.
- Collaborate with various internal teams to align fundraising efforts with events, communications, and stewardship initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow annual giving to exceed $3 million annually.
- Collaborate with the SA Fund team to enhance fundraising from alumni, parents, and other key donors.
- Manage solicitation and communication programs, including direct mail, email campaigns, telemarketing, and annual giving publications with support from the marketing & communications team.
- Analyze annual giving performance, making data-driven adjustments to exceed goals.
- Work with advancement services to develop reports and tools that enhance the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate with marketing & communications to align print, digital, and social media outreach with Advancement strategies.
- Represent Saint Andrew’s School at Advancement events, engaging with donors and stakeholders to strengthen relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 7 years of related professional experience, ideally in an independent school or nonprofit setting.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
- Experience in using development software, Raiser’s Edge preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership abilities.
- Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising and engagement strategies.
- Experience working with volunteers, advisory boards, and key donors.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Data-driven mindset, able to analyze fundraising metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Collaborative and adaptable team player, eager to support the broader Advancement mission.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling donor and institutional information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Domestic travel as needed.
- Willingness to engage fully in the life of the school, representing Saint Andrew’s with credibility, energy, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
