Activities Coordinator for Adult Day Center
Part Time |Monday - Friday | 10am-2pm | No Weekends!

Responsibilities for a Day Center Activities Coordinator:
- Understands normal aging process.
- Maintains an up to date understanding of Alzheimer's and Dementia diseases and current treatment modalities.
- Understands and demonstrates behavior acceptance, validation principles and techniques to enhance participants self esteem and maintain their rights.
- Models behavior acceptance.
- Assists with clinical needs of participants under supervision of RN/LPN/CNA.
- Assists with implementation of ADL needs of participants with supervision
- Ambulation
- Toileting
- Personal Care
- Assists in prevention activities of participants - maintaining a safe environment.
- Plans and implements therapeutic activities.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of activities and adjusts as necessary.
- Documents participants involvement in activities.
- Communicates any issues or concerns about participants activities to Program Director.
- Monitors participants nutritional status and communicates any concerns to RN or Program Director.
- Assists in feeding as needed.
- Follows all safety and cleanliness standards as established by the RI Department of Health, Department of Education and other regulatory agencies.
- Ensures a safe, clean and therapeutic environment is maintained.
- Ensures compliance with all universal precautions, health and safety regulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all fire, evacuation and emergency procedures.
- Maintains and updates communication log and tracking records.
- Communicates with family members/caregivers/coworkers.
- Communicates any changes noted or concerns to Program Director/Nurse.
- Maintains own competency and meets all agency requirements.
- Assists in training and mentoring of students, volunteers.
Qualifications for a Day Center Activities Coordinator:
- High school diploma/equivalency.
- OTA, PTA education in activities programming highly desirable Experience with working with elderly and/or adults with disabilities.
- Understanding of geriatrics/working with the elderly.
- Excellent communication skills - cheerful disposition.
- Creativity/Flexibility.
