What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Analyst position at Saint-Gobain High Performance Solutions - Life Sciences, Composites & Mobility?
The Financial Analyst will support the analytical needs of the Worcester PCR plant by assisting the Plant Controller. The primary objectives of the incumbent in this position are to ensure consistent reporting and performance, standard ways of working, and compliance with all rules and regulations. This role owns the financial reporting and control procedures, annual budgeting support, establishing and rolling of standard costs, working with, and monitoring shared services, variance analysis, and any ad-hoc analysis needs within the plant.
Assistance to Plant Controller
* Assists in the preparation, review, and summary of periodic financial analysis of Sales, Cost of Sales, Gross Margins, Manufacturing Variances, Manufacturing Quality and Inventory Provisions, and Fixed Costs.
* Strong focus on the analysis of manufacturing variances with an in depth understanding of purchase price variances, material usage variances, technical variances, and absorption of overheads.
* Responsible in assisting and preparing the monthly closing process which includes manual journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and ensuring accuracy of numbers.
* Provides analysis and reporting on key performance indications (Operational KPIs) that monitor and measure results on a recurrent basis.
* Serve as a secondary source for weekly, hourly, payroll file transmission.
* Development of automated forecasting tools for more efficient use of data
Costing Analysis & Accounting
* Works with all levels of management for providing and calculating accurate standard costs, assist in creation of P&L, balance sheet, and headcount numbers.
* Provide in depth analysis and reporting on Working Capital (inventory, AR, AP) results and working with all levels of management in optimizing cash drivers
* Quarterly analysis on slow moving inventories and communicate results to all levels of management.
Budget & Budget Prep
* Responsible in assisting the Plant Controller in the planning, preparation, and participation of the annual budget process.
* Assist in measuring and reporting of WCM savings committed to within the budget. Participation in all plant-related loss-reduction activities.
* Analyze data to provide standard costs for factory budgets. Oversee loading of budget data into Magnitude.
Systems Knowledge
* Utilizing current operating systems (SAP, ShopVue) and learning new systems (PowerBI, Ignition) to run reports to analyze data and identify trends. Make recommendations according to those trends that are in line with site objectives.
Compliance
* Frequent integration in financial accounting functions/systems to ensure operating performance information is compliant with corporate accounting and internal auditing policies, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
* Provides responses to inquiries concerning Corporate Accounting Policy, US GAAP, and IFRS related issues.
* Responsible for the implementation of new methods to accommodate revisions to the Corporate Accounting Policy or a chance necessitated by new government regulations.

- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent (Required)
- Master's Degree or MBA (Preferred)
- Experience in a Manufacturing Plant that uses SAP (Required)
- Proficient use of SAP in a controlling environment (Required)
- Strong Excel and Presentation skills (Required)
- Initiative to explore areas where analysis is lacking or can be strengthened
- Ability to influence activities in various departments and plants without direct authority
- Demonstrated communication skills both written and verbal are critical. Ability to effectively present information and respond to the questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Ability to communicate and work cross-functionally with teams - collaborating with purchasing, quality, manufacturing, production planning & commercial teams to influence desired outcomes in establishing annual standard costs & communicate results.
- Ability to use data-driven approach to problem-solving and loss identification at the plant.
