What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support Technician II position at Saint Joseph's College of Maine?
The IT Support Technician II plays a critical role in supporting the stability and efficiency of the College’s Information Technology systems by: supporting organizational IT needs; providing support of systems and networking infrastructure; supporting the administration of online productivity & collaboration tools; ensuring effective network connectivity to devices; effectively supporting desktop application software; and supporting network administration. This position focuses heavily on delivering high-quality technical support to the end-user, maintaining and troubleshooting desktop hardware and software, while ensuring the smooth operation of infrastructure components such as networks, servers, and peripherals.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in Information Technology or related field, or Certifications such as CompTIA A , Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
- A combination of At least 3 years of experience and education in IT support with a focus on desktop and troubleshooting preferred.
No supervisory responsibilities. General office hours are Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30. Full-time 40 hour per week position. Available to attend on-site meetings, training, as well as work during peak periods, that will include evenings and occasional weekend hours in the event of infrastructure outage. This job is 100% onsite.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems Windows 10 and above
- Proficient in installing, configuring, and deploying computer hardware
- Thorough understanding of modern hardware and software requirements
- Advanced working knowledge of macOS and Windows Server 2016 and above
- Essential knowledge in network connectivity troubleshooting
- Highly proficient in troubleshooting techniques in relation to application software and operating systems
- Follow guidelines regarding best practices with cybersecurity as well as physical security
- Previous experience working with ticketing systems, RATs, RMM, and other infrastructure and end user support tools
- Working knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and other networking protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with online productivity & collaboration suites such as GWS and/or Microsoft Office 365
- Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others
- Possess a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment
- Strong communication: both verbal and written and organizational skills needed
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to meet project deadlines and manage system problems, escalating when needed
- Ability to communicate and work well with others within a fast-paced environment
- Strong critical thinking, analyzing and developing skills
- Ability to concentrate and follow through on all assignments to completion
- Demonstrated customer service skills for dealing with all levels of clients
