Crisis Intervention Specialist
The Crisis Intervention Specialist is primarily responsible for managing the Nursery helpline, providing risk assessment, crisis intervention and prioritizing family needs. The Crisis Intervention Specialist is responsible for the oversight of all calls that come through the crisis helpline, including waitlist clients/calls. Crisis Intervention Specialists are responsible for evaluating family needs as a way to triage and communicate effectively with the Family Care Case Managers to serve the families with the most emergent needs. The Crisis Intervention Specialist also participates in an on-call rotation.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage Crisis Nursery Helpline calls providing assessment and crisis intervention to parents,
- Offer referrals to appropriate community resources
- Triage Urgent needs as appropriate
- Assess clients risk level in order to triage families requesting care
- Review all active phone logs ensuring that all assessment data is complete and respond promptly and update Nursery
- CIS will contact all families waiting for care to reassess, offer intervention, support and referrals and outreach call to families in order to utilize all available Nursery bed space each day.
- In between phone calls, the Crisis Intervention Specialist will be responsive to critical needs on the nursery floor, as needed.
- Complete follow-up calls with all families receiving Crisis Care services 48 hours, 14 days and 30 days post discharge, as needed.
- Maintain a nonjudgmental and strengths-based approach when speaking to or about families
- Act as a team leader while on the floor, demonstrating a positive, professional attitude and strengths-based approach to coaching and problem solving with staff on duty.
- Collaborate with the team for program development with 24-hour helpline.
- Document all relevant information in a timely, fact-based manner.
- Consult and collaborate with Family Empowerment Counselor/ Social Worker and Family Care Case Managers, and Call Center Coordinator as appropriate.
- Network with other agencies in the community on behalf of the family through advocacy calls.
- As assigned, participate in an on-call rotation and respond promptly (within 15 minutes) to all calls and concerns.
- Act as the admitting supervisor when on call, maximizing space and providing support, guidance and decision-making to staff regarding intakes, discharges, extensions and other decisions regarding the care and well-being of children and families.

- Ensure appropriate ratios are maintained within the nursery
- Assist staff to find replacements or personally cover shift openings
: Knowledgeable of principles and methods for crisis intervention and support of parents and children experiencing crises. Knowledge in the strengths-based philosophy, solution focused goal setting, and parent coaching techniques related to developmental stages 0-12 years.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
