A Licensed Master’s degree level professional who participates as a member of the treatment team by providing outpatient psychotherapy using evidence-based practices (e.g. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, MBSR, EMDR, and Supportive Psychotherapy). Screens patients who are referred and makes appropriate recommendations for persons seeking mental health services. Conducts psychosocial assessments and formulates appropriate diagnosis, disposition, and treatment plans and then evaluates patient’s progress. Highly trained professional who demonstrates autonomy and critical thinking skills and consultation in handling emergent crises.

- Complete a thorough psychosocial assessment and initiate appropriate plan and intervention.
- Recommend further evaluation or treatment by psychiatry when indicated.
- Determine the most effective treatment.
- Provide appropriate psychotherapy to diverse population including high risk patients.
- Identify patient needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary team to meet the patient needs.
- Communicate patient needs, progress, and outcomes through verbal and written strategies, including but not limited to documentation in the medical record and active participation in interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Arrange referrals to other healthcare providers and rehabilitation service.
- Assist with appropriate referrals.
- Assist families to address quality of life issues and facilitate family conferences for other necessary issues.
- Properly identify and report all cases to appropriate law protection agencies.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary care team including patient, family, physicians, and agency representatives.
- Provide and educate healthcare team on community resources.
- Educate patients and families on resources available.
- Must have experience in the treatment of complex clinical issues, specialized intervention techniques, professional issues and ethics, culturally competent approaches in therapy, and the understanding of the implications of a full spectrum of psychiatric diagnoses for behavioral functioning.
- Experience in effective clinical counseling and/or clinical social work and in several models of therapy in a clinical setting.
- Experience leading group therapy.
- Critical thinking in assessment and summarization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing health care environment.
- Ability to adapt techniques and skills to individual patient needs.
- Basic knowledge of computers and clinical applications.
- Must be a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
