GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Saint Mary’s College is looking for skilled and compassionate registered nurses, who enjoy working with adolescents, to provide nursing care for participants at our summer camps/programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Communicates effectively and respectfully and works collaboratively with staff and campers from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Administers prescribed medications based on a physician’s order.
- Records all medications received and times that each distribution is administered in the medication log.
- Identifies communicable disease and isolates infected students as needed until arrangements are made for the camper's departure.
- Works independently and possesses sound reasoning and judgment capabilities.
- Medically assesses campers in need of immediate care
- Provides first aid treatment for all minor injuries of campers
- Refers campers to higher level medical care if assessment warrants
- Provides emergency intervention as needed.
- Communicates with parents and advises staff of emerging camper health issues and related problems.
- Attends and participates in pre-camp training/preparation, including:
- Participate in camper check in on Sundays (day & evening shift nurses)
- Attends orientation specific to camp nurse responsibilities
- Reviews standing medical orders and camp documentation Assesses medical needs for each camper from their medical forms
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Saint Mary’s College Summer Camps/Programs are seeking nurses to cover 3 shifts during the dates listed above:
- Day Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
- Evening Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm Night Shift: 11:00 pm - 7:30 am
Education/Experience/Qualifications
- Proof of an active Indiana Registered Nursing (RN) license
- Experience in providing first aid treatments, triage, infection control and/or distribution of prescribed medical drugs to children in a medical setting, school, or camp environment
- Proof of current CPR/BLS certification
