Program description: Fine Arts Camp focuses on educating young women in the creative process and developing their communication, critical, and analytical thinking skills. At the end of the week, campers present their work in a Performing Arts Forum on the O’Laughlin stage at Saint Mary’s College. Over five days, participants will explore five fine arts disciplines: music, dance, theater, puppetry, and art. Daily classes in these disciplines are combined with a performance class where each camper specializes in a specific art form. At the end of the week, families are invited to attend a performance showcasing the campers’ creations.
Position description: The Coordinator will work with the summer camp team and the Fine Arts Academic Directors to ensure that camp operations run smoothly. Assist in managing the Fine Arts Camp Counselors, and organizing the daily schedules for the campers. The coordinator will assist with registration day and check out times, and supervise activities after classes.
Position Duties:
- Responsible for the supervision and safety of campers, ages 9-14, in the residence hall, during guest performances, and at assigned day/evening activities.
- Communicate with Camp Staff, Saint Mary’s staff, and parents as needed.
- Responsible for assisting the academic directors, night supervisor, faculty, and counselors with organized activities, talent shows, and guest performances.
- Responsible for leading at registration, orientation, and departure each week.
- Serve as a leader and role model for young adults
- Public speaking and stage presence is essential for this role.
- Helps coordinate camp check in / check out process and room checks with counselors and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
College graduate or commensurate experience and minimum two years of camp experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous camp experience
- Flexibility with schedule and hours while on campus
- Past management or supervisory experience
- Past experience working with youth groups ages 9-14
