Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking a Lower School Teacher to nurture and support Kindergarten students in their personal and academic growth for the 2025 - 2026 academic year.

Responsibilities
- Understand child development and use this knowledge to maximize a child’s school experience
- Develop and deliver meaningful, challenging, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for students that align with the school’s academic and developmental standards.
- Utilize the Science of Reading techniques to deliver effective reading instruction and interventions
- Maintain and provide evidence of daily lesson and unit plans and materials that differentiate learning and maximize instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning, analyze the results, and modify instruction to fit student needs.
- Provide constructive student observations and feedback in accordance with school policy and procedures.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by school procedures.
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, nurturing classroom environment in accordance with the school’s guidelines that fosters the intellectual, social-emotional, spiritual, and physical development of all students.
- Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students in a variety of school settings.
- Ensure effective communication with students and parents; encourage collaboration and provide regular feedback (both written and in-person) to parents.
- Coordinate with peers, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum and collaboratively plan.
- Appraise own effectiveness and continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field.
- Attend regular faculty and department meetings; participate in designated professional development activities; contribute to teamwork and positive morale.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher assistants
- Participate in faith formation experiences
- Perform other duties as directed by the school administration
- Comply with school policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to solve problems without sacrificing relationships.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop and run
- Experience with classroom management and working with digital technologies
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- 2-4 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary education
- Licensed by the Virginia Department of Education (preferred)
