Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking a Lower School Teacher to nurture and support grade two students in their personal and academic growth for the 2025 - 2026 academic year.

Founded in 2005, Saint Patrick Catholic School (Norfolk, Virginia) is an independent Catholic school with an enrollment of approximately 400 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight. Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver meaningful, challenging, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for students that align with the school's academic standards.
- Maintain and provide evidence of lesson and unit plans and materials that differentiate learning and maximize instructional time.
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, nurturing classroom environment per the school’s guidelines that foster all students' intellectual, social-emotional, spiritual, and physical development.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Provide constructive student feedback and grades in accordance with school policy and procedures.
- Appraise own effectiveness and continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings.
- Understand child development and use this knowledge to maximize a child’s school experience.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by school procedures.
- Ensure effective communication with students and parents; encourage collaboration and provide regular feedback (both written and in-person) to parents.
- Coordinate with peers, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum and collaboratively plan.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher assistants
- Attend regular faculty and department meetings; contribute to teamwork and positive morale.
- Participate in faith formation experiences
- Perform other duties as directed by the school administration
- Comply with school policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to solve problems without sacrificing relationships.
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop and run
- Timely and regular attendance and adherence to established work schedules
- Experience with classroom management and working with digital technologies
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university
- 2-4 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary education
- Licensed or eligible for Licensure by the Virginia Department of Education (preferred)
