What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Professor Open Track position at Saint Xavier University?
- Summary
The Education Division at Saint Xavier University, invites applications for two full-time faculty positions in Education. The selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Education Division's teacher preparation programs. The area of expertise is open, but we are particularly interested in Early Childhood, Special Education, or English as Second Language/Bilingual education. The successful candidate will also engage in scholarship and department and college/university service.
In order to identify the best faculty member, the track is open. Applicants with strong teaching skills and proven publishing success who would make strong tenure-track faculty will be considered for a tenure-track position. Applicants with strong teaching skills who prefer to focus on teaching will be considered for a non-tenure track lecturer position. Applicants with strong teaching skills and additional applied expertise will be considered for the professional practice track.
Start date is in the Fall of 2025. Rank depends on credentials and years of experience; salary commensurate with experience.
- Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach 12 credit hours each semester in education courses related to one's area of expertise. Courses can be graduate or undergraduate, in-person or online.
- Provide service to the program, including curriculum, assessment and accreditation activities; college, and university
- For tenure track faculty, establish a program of research leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations
- For professional practice faculty, additional applied activities
- Qualifications
- Doctorate in Education or a closely related discipline, including Learning Sciences, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or related. ABD applicants will be considered, contingent on a successful doctoral defense prior to August 1, 2025
- Evidence of or potential for excellent teaching, including use of evidence-based best practices in teaching and learning
- Teaching experience at the K-12 and collegiate level
- Knowledge of state and national teacher education requirements
- For tenure track faculty, demonstrated research potential
