JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: WIC Maintenance Tech
INCUMBENT: OPEN
DEPARTMENT: Facility
LOCATION: Woodland, California
REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager ESG Business Development
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for maintenance of the WIC site and facility including maintenance of site, buildings/facilities, lights, corporate fleet vehicles, forklifts, warehouse machinery, fabrication, heating & refrigeration equipment, construction and installation of new equipment, and production equipment repair. Operates a variety of farm equipment and hand tools to perform this function. Coordinates 3rd parties to complete work as needed. Works closely with Sr. Manager ESG Bus. Dev, Maint. Mngr., Farm manager, plant breeders, and facility coordinator implementing the above.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*:
- The Maintenance Technician II will coordinate with the Sr. Manager ESG Bus. Dev to facilitate maintenance at the WIC The Hive, Office, Warehouse, Headhouses, Farm Shop, Washery, labs, and greenhouses.
- Maintains all lighting and ensures bulbs are changed out and working

Handles any safety issues immediately
- Responsible for maintenance of buildings and grounds and all systems contained within.
- Responsible for the maintenance of farm equipment and tools, such as tractors, greenhouse sprayers, forklifts, etc.
- Provide supervision and direction to any employees assigned to help in his area.
- Provide backup to the other Maintenance Tech as needed,
- Travel to other operations to perform work for periods up to one week at a time, this may be on any given Sakata property and any department as needed.
- Coordinates the maintenance on all local corporate fleet pool vehicles as required
- Oversee all WIC Campus maintenance.
- Keep maintenance and repair records on each vehicle, building, and piece of equipment.
- Establish and manage relationships with outside vendors.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must have ability to safely operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on all equipment. Equipment includes tractors, utility vehicles, and multiple types of power equipment and hand tools including but not limited to rototillers, saws, drills, spray rig, etc.
- Must have basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, and as much general handy man type skills as possible.
- Ability to communicate well in written and spoken English.
- Ability to do accurate detailed work under time constraints and deadlines.
- Must be available for extra hours or weekend duty as needed.
- Ability to communicate electronically via computer and perform basic computer skills as needed to report progress etc.
- Ability to handle stress especially when encountering necessary projects, deadlines and/or high workload.
- Conduct work in a professional manner
- Good organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to manage a small work staff if needed
- Must wear uniform supplied by Sakata.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Electrical repair.
- Basic computer skills
- Heating & refrigeration repair school preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Compliance with CALOSHA, OSHA and other regulatory agencies
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:
- Supervisory skills
- Farm background highly desirable.
- Metal and wood working skills highly preferred
- Basic electrical skills
- Forklift and heavy equipment experience and certifications as needed.
- HVAC skills/knowledge
- Plumbing skills
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must have valid California driver's license and the ability to obtain a CDL license.
- California Private Applicator pesticide license desirable but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must have ability to perform work in varying weather conditions.
- Must have ability to lift over 50 pounds on a regular/daily basis.
- Must be able to work with chemicals and other irritating substances.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear when required.
- Must be able to work in dusty conditions.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work around excessive noise and wear hearing protection as needed

- Salary: $29-$33 per hour
