Summary: This is an entry level position to provide instrumentation and electrical engineering designs for small to medium sized projects in chemical processing and industrial facilities.
1. Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
0-5 years work experience in manufacturing, chemical, refining and/or heavy industrial facilities and/or demonstrated ability to consistently perform roles and responsibilities of design engineer.
2. Responsibilities:
Serve as lead discipline engineer or project manager on small to medium sized I&E and multidiscipline projects.
Provide project leadership to ensure communication and execution of work is within scope, schedule, and budget by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
Work with HCS P.E. oversight throughout the course of projects.
Prepare quality engineering designs by directing CAD design personnel in the development of I&E installation drawings, data sheets and specifications, to meet customer specifications and applicable codes with a moderate to minimal level of guidance.
Prepare estimates, scopes of work, material specifications, bid packages, calculations, and equipment specification packages with a moderate to minimal level of guidance.
Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine optimum engineering solutions.
Produce effective and accurate detailed design calculations, testing requirements and materials of construction specifications associated with the project. Calculations produced shall be neatly prepared and organized for efficient checking by others and as a deliverable when required.
Ensure calculations and designs meet client specifications and standards as well as industry engineering codes such as NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ISA, etc.
Perform overall quality control of the I&E designs to ensure technical and quality standards are maintained.
Ensure all engineering and designs are reviewed by a Senior I&E engineer before issuing to clients.
Closeout completed projects by transmitting final drawings and project information to the client followed by proper file management on the HCS file system.
Travel to various sites to participate in risk and design reviews, gather field data, and provide construction and startup support.
Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications, as well as compliance with operational and safety standards.
