PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the guidance of the Production Supervisor, the SMT Machine Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines used in the assembly of electronic components. The SMT Operator will work closely with the engineering team to ensure that all products meet quality standards and are delivered on time. Responsibilities: Requirements: Operate and monitor SMT machines to ensure accurate and efficient assembly of electronic components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with work instructions to guide their work and the assemblies through the manufacturing process.
· Able to load feeders and inspect components.
· Create and modify oven profiles.
· Work with SMT machinery.
· Operate reflow, solder printers, and AOI machines.
· Understand and effectively use materials provided by process engineering to perform the job and make sure that all equipment is running properly and safely daily.
· Immediately notify the supervisor in the event that any equipment is malfunctioning.
· Perform all required preventative maintenance for machine operation and document per "Good Documentation Practices Procedure" on the proper logs.
· Maintain a clean work area.
· Perform proficiently at a quality standard set by the company's mission and commitment.
· Keep accurate records of production data and any maintenance or repair work performed on equipment.
· Train and mentor new SMT operators as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of an Associate’s degree will be preferred, or a High School Diploma or GED and be able to take all appropriate training classes required in lieu of a degree.
· 1 to 3 years’ experience in electronics assembly.
EXPERIENCE
- Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of electronics or SMT experience and various components.
- Detail oriented and organizational skill.
- Experience with SMT machine equipment.
- Knowledge of component identification.
- Knowledge of bill of materials, assembly drawings, product specific documentation, work instructions, and other general documents
- Knowledge of IPC-610 all classifications
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment
- Ability to read and speak English fluently.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong verbal/written communication
- Computer literacy.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Use of hands and tools to properly perform the job.
- Work on an ESD environment wearing ESD equipment.
- Incumbent must be able to operate a computer.
- Stooping, bending, stretching, and reaching outward and over their head.
- This position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.
- Lift minimum of forty (40) pounds.
- Willingness to cross-train into other departments.
