Role:
Directs the operational, financial and personnel activities of the Nursing programs at the College.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures all program accreditation and licensing requirements are fulfilled.
Prepares annual report on status of accreditation compliance.
Ensures academic rigor of all Nursing programs.
Prepares academic course schedules for Nursing programs.
Reviews and maintains curriculum that meets the requirements mandated by the appropriate agencies and acts as a resource for curriculum development and program evaluation.
Reviews curricula to assure currency of courses and a Assists in development of new courses and programs, as needed.
Establish and enforce clear professional and ethical standards aligned with nursing accreditation bodies and institutional policies, developing behavioral improvement plans as necessary, collaborating with the Vice President of Academic Affairs as needed.
Identifies, interviews and recommends adjunct faculty appointments.
Develops nursing department budgets and monitors budget expenditures.
Supervises and evaluates full-time and part-time Nursing instructors.
Develops and maintains relationships with clinical agencies to arranges clinical affiliations for students.
Maintains accreditation related and state required records for nursing programs.
Coordinates scheduling of all facilities (clinical sites and SCC) and ensures suitability for instructional, clinical and laboratory experiences.
Coordinates PN/RN admission activities with Dean of Enrollment Management and assists in recruiting qualified students into the program.
Teaches as needed.
Performs other tasks as specifically mandated by the Rules of the New Jersey Board of Nursing governing schools of practical nursing and registered nursing.
Apply for, implement, and coordinate the provision of any grants, local, state or federal.
Provides academic advisement and counseling to Nursing students using all nursing staff.
Facilitate the development of a supportive environment for student success, emphasizing respect, responsibility, and accountability.
Teaches as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience Experience teaching at the college level required.
Experience teaching at a community college preferred.
Education Masters degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing with additional courses in education.
Current New Jersey registration as a professional nurse. Record of professional or clinical experience
Interpersonal Skills Ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, staff and external constituencies.
Technical Skills Working knowledge of current and emerging computer hardware and software, including relevant ERP systems and all Microsoft Office products.
Other Skills Up-to-date professional competence demonstrated by ongoing clinical practice, continuing education, attendance at workshops and conferences or academic coursework.
Physical Requirements The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
