Your Role With Us:
The House Supervisor at West Valley Hospital provides resource assistance, supervision, leadership and strategic oversight with direction from the ED & Med/Surg Nurse Manager in accordance with Salem Health’s mission, vision and core commitments. This leader ensures optimal patient care, patient flow and utilization of resources. The House Supervisor leadership role also expands to that of after-hours supervisor on duty to make management decisions and works collaboratively with management for change, evaluation of practice standards and problem resolution of operational issues in all hospital departments.
Core Functions:
- Performs focused rounding and monitors census, supply, and demand in West Valley Hospital departments.
- Discusses patient issues/concerns with staff related to safety, quality, and family
- Facilitates patient flow by coordinating with nursing staff, providers and other staff.
- Reports critical issues related to patient care and patient flow to Patient Care Managers/Director/AOC. Takes leadership of the situation including identifying and coordinating resources to manage immediate needs and response required
- Responsible for the oversight of staffing for the organization. Follows nursing policies and demonstrates fiscal responsibility in determining staff utilization and distribution.
- Directs, supervises, evaluates and supports patient care and operations Assists with patient care when acuity and/or intensity exceed available staffing

Background/Expertise:
- BSN degree required.
- Active Oregon Registered Nurse required.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certified required.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of broad clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Critical care and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Two (2) years in a leadership position and leadership and management ability preferred.
- Care Management, patient placement, discharge planning and utilization review experience desired.
