Qualifications:

Job Goal:
1. Directs and manages the overall program of high school band for the district. Provides students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensures compliance with all state and district requirements. Plans activities to achieve local and state recognition.
2. To implement and refine music instruction for students in the following classes: Beginning Piano; Advanced Piano; Advanced Guitar, Music Theory
Position Responsibilities:
1. Directs high school instrumental performances including marching band and concert band.
2. Establishes performance requirements and enforces academic requirements for all students in band
3. Provides for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and community events.
4. In coordination with performing arts director, organizes and arranges extracurricular performance opportunities in accordance with district policy and regulations as well as student interest and ability.
5. Works collaboratively with percussion, colorguard, and additional staff members in order to best support the needs of all students
6. Supports Performing Arts Music Club (parent booster group) activities.
7. Plans, rehearses, and directs musical experiences for the school and community
8. Collaborates with the school administration in providing music programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and, as appropriate, civic functions that enhance the students’ performing experience.
9. Oversees scheduling and other arrangements for the rehearsals and concerts in cooperation with the performing arts director
10. Assists students in preparing for state-wide music activities (all state, additional festivals, etc)
11. Maintains an accurate inventory of school-owned instruments. Controls the storage and use of school-owned equipment and materials; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
12. Submits budget needs annually to the principal/fine arts supervisors in accordance with established timelines and guidelines.
13. Submits orders for all supplies and materials necessary for band-related activities in accordance with established district procedures and budget allocations.
14. Develops and implements plans for the instrumental music program
15. Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
16. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
17. Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
18. To implement school and district policy, rules and regulations for teachers, students, and parents.
19. Attend regularly scheduled meetings
20. Other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff.
Terms of Employment: Full-time permanent
