What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Business Development - SaaS / 20% growth position at Sales Talent Inc.?
A 40-year-old company recently backed by one of the largest PEs has spun off a 300-person division to accelerate growth and break into new markets. With the stability of a large company but the energy of a start-up, we are hiring our first Manager of Business Development to help build out a BDR (outbound) team.
Reporting to the CMO, this person will build a high-performing outbound Business Development Representative (BDR) team from the ground up. This team’s primary responsibility is prospecting and setting appointments for Account Executives. The focus will include developing processes, KPIs, sales tools, and onboarding plans. The team will grow from 3 to 5 BDRs within 6 months, with plans to add 3 more each year. The goal is to create a scalable system where top-performing BDRs are prepared to transition into quota-carrying roles. This includes building methodologies for outreach, automating processes, refining metrics, and ensuring consistent performance. They will also establish partnerships with schools to attract interns and develop them into future BDRs, creating a pipeline of talent to sustain growth. While this role will initially be a player-coach, after about a year, it will move into a full coach role.
