Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Greet our patrons warmly, in person or on the phone, with a smile on your face and in your voice
  • Always wear required Saline Chevrolet apparel and coordinating business attire in order to represent the dealership in a professional manner. Jeans, shorts, athletic shoes, and other casual attire are not appropriate
  • Lead by example through daily actions and appearance to build positive employee attitudes and morale
  • Maintain a high standard of business ethics
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth
  • Manage Used Vehicle Department & Inventory in the Used Vehicle Department to ensure that customer needs are met
  • Planning, organizing, and controlling the activities of the Used Sales Department
  • Oversees all activities of the Used Sales Department including monitoring the showroom and lot, the department finances, customer service, brand, inventory, advertising, and prospecting
  • Strives to achieve Company objectives for sales, customer satisfaction and profitability
  • Creating annual dealership used sales forecasts by estimating total used vehicle sales, gross and operating profits and expenses for the Used Sales Department
  • Merchandise all used car inventory to ensure we are competitive with our market
  • Appraise vehicles for purchase (auction, trade ins, etc)
  • Manage wholesaling of aged and non-retail inventory
  • Purchase vehicles for retail sale
  • Reprice inventory vehicles regularly
  • Assist sales management team in lead management efforts
  • Set monthly sales goals, track progress, and lead the sales team toward achieving quotas
  • Help potential buyers make a decision on which vehicle to purchase
  • Work closely with the F&I department to enhance a smooth transaction
  • Ensure all information about customers into CRM, including notes about the possible purchase to ensure a seamless transition from one customer visit to another
  • Ensure sales team is following up with customers via phone, email or text message
  • Take accountability for daily performance metrics in sales, appointments, and follow-up calls
  • Stay up-to-date on Product Knowledge
  • Ensure all General Motor programs are being followed as instructed
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and new contacts
  • Train & coach sales consultants
  • Resolves customer complaints ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction is obtained
  • Maximize gross profit in each deal
  • Ensure state and federal compliance
  • Be present for weekly meetings
  • Maintain and organize vehicles and lot in a customer-ready fashion at all times
  • Provide assistance to other departments as requested

Education and Experience: Requires a valid MI driver's license and good recent driving record; ability to read and comprehend instructions and information; neat appearance and good judgment when representing Saline Chevrolet.

  • 2 years Used Car Manager/Buyer experience
  • 2 years management experience
  • Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Reynolds & Reynolds experience
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Strong negotiation skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
