Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join our motivated dental team in our newer state-of-the-art dental practice. While experience as an assistant is preferred it is not a requirement. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to our surgeon and dental team by assisting in surgical procedures, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care, maintaining patient records, and ensuring that the oral surgery practice operates smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced dental/medical assistant looking to advance their career or a hardworking, detail-oriented candidate who is willing to learn on the job.
Our ideal candidate should be friendly, dependable, energetic, and self-motivated. Also, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organization, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills are required for data entry and the use of word processing software.
Every other Monday, we have evening hours to accommodate patients who cannot come during the day. Additionally, the doctor sees patients one Saturday a month at a location in Dearborn. This day is rotated with the other assistants, so there will be approximately four Saturdays a year that will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist oral surgeon during examinations and procedures such as extractions, implants, and other oral surgeries
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and treatment notes
- Take and process imaging, including dental X-rays and CBCT scans, while adhering to safety protocols
- Monitor vital signs of patients before, during, and after procedures
- Provide patients with pre- and post-operative instructions and support
- Ensure a clean, organized, and sterile environment that is compliant with health regulations
- Manage surgical supplies inventory and restocking as needed
- Assist with patient scheduling and follow-up care coordination
- Follow OSHA and infection control protocols
- Follow HIPAA guidelines

Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, is required
- Chairside assisting experience in oral surgery
- Proficiency in dental terminology and aseptic technique
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Radiology certification
- CPR certification
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and assist patients with getting in and out of the dental chair if needed and getting into vehicles after sedation surgeries
- Strong communication skills for patient interaction
- Ability to work with EMR systems and maintain patient records
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Previous experience in oral surgery or relevant field is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 33 per week
