Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time tenure-track (FTTT) faculty position in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.Area of Specialization:
Adult Health, Psychiatric Mental Health, Pediatrics, Maternity, and/or Community Health.
Primary Job Duties:
- Participate in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of courses in Adult Health, Psychiatric Mental Health, Pediatrics, Maternity, and/or Community Health (both didactic and clinical).
- Engage in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of clinical and didactic education for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
- Advise and evaluate students in clinical settings, including conducting site visits to preceptor locations.
- Build and maintain collaborative interdisciplinary relationships within the school, college, university, and the community.
- Maintain an active scholarship program.
- Participate in faculty governance and provide service to the school, university, and the nursing profession.
- Develop and implement curricula to adequately prepare students for the challenges of nursing in various specialties.
- Support graduate nursing students in their capstone practicum and/or DNP projects, facilitating the transition from student to nurse leader.
Authority and Accountability:
This position reports to Dr. Debra Webster, Director of the School of Nursing. There is no budgetary responsibility or authority associated with this position.
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field and a license to practice in Maryland or a compact state; OR a Master’s degree in Nursing with experience in adult health, psychiatric/mental health, pediatric, maternity, and/or community health nursing (hired at the rank of Instructor) with the expectation to complete a doctoral degree within five (5) years of appointment.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in Adult Health, Psych/Mental Health, Pediatrics, Maternity, and/or Community Health.
- Proficiency in professional oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to cultural competencies and promotion of inclusion and diversity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or a related field or current enrollment in a doctoral program.
- Advanced certification in adult health, psych/mental health, pediatrics, maternity, community health, nursing education, or related areas.
- Previous experience teaching nursing students.
