- New York State English Teacher Certification
- Knowledge of and experience in teaching New York State ELA Next Generation Standards
- Training and experience in Project-Based Learning preferred

- Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages all students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
- Plans and delivers high quality lessons targeted and aligned to NYS standards, tailored to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students in accordance with the goals and objectives
- Implement new teaching methods and education tools, including project-based learning and performance-based assessment to create relevant and engaging learning experiences for students
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences that establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student’s performance and development
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
- Participate in job-embedded professional growth that includes discussion of current research, examination of student work and performance data, goal setting and reflection on your practice to improve instructional effectiveness
- Engage and collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop and sustain a common culture that supports high expectations for student learning
- Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
- Consistently incorporates formative assessment of student learning and provides students with positive actionable feedback
- Differentiates student learning activities while embedding student-centered, hands-on activities to engage all students
