Position Summary : The Assistant Principal for Academics is appointed by and reports directly to the Principal. This position is responsible for the education, supervision and professional development of faculty. The Assistant Principal is :

The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in the following areas :
develops and maintains a collaborative staff culture
ensures a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment throughout the campus
supervises and supports research-based methodologies, implemented through effective data-driven instruction
plans in-service programs for all school personnel and overseas faculty development
ensures fidelity to proper implementation of school-wide assessments and accurate communication of student progress to shareholders
directs and supports data analysis to inform curricular and instructional decisions
actively engages in the school improvement process by complying with policies, standards and protocol of the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA)
The Assistant Principal, in coordination with the Principal :
supervises and supports Director of Curriculum and Instruction
supervises and oversees the 504 Coordinator
supervises the Librarian
supervises and supports the Department Chairs and Faculty
supervises and supports the Instructional Coaches
plans and directs Department Chair and Faculty meetings
responds to administration and Department Chair concerns regarding individual teachers development needs
schedules weekly classroom observations, documents observations and shares feedback for effective teaching strategies
develops annual professional development calendars for faculty for both professional and faith development
plans and coordinates Parent-Teacher Conferences
ensures that parents are communicated with regarding student learning needs on a regular basis
responds to parental concerns regarding faculty issues
The Assistant Principal collaborates with the :
Director of Curriculum and Instruction to organize and administer all standardized tests
Director of Counseling to support students on Lancer Success Plans
Director of Human Resources to support faculty members in school wide initiatives
Director of Systems Administration to schedule teaching and special duty assignments
The Assistant Principal :
Develops, coordinates and supervises processes for :
participation in the PLC program and other school wide curriculum efforts,
accountability measures including timelines for completion of tasks and projects and adherence to school policies as directed by handbooks and administrative directives
Maintains membership and active participation in appropriate professional organizations
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
A working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Roman Catholic Church. If baptized Catholic, must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
Experience in an educational leadership role, three to five years preferred
Valid Principal certificate
Advanced degree (MA or PhD) in Educational Leadership (or related field) preferred
Experience teaching in secondary education, three to five years preferred
Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills
Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
Inspirational, comfortable public speaker
Availability for evening and weekend work as necessary
