Position Title : College Counselor
FLSA Status : Exempt
Full-time / Part-time : Full-time - 10 months

Reports to : Director of Counseling
Position Summary : Salpointe Catholic High School is looking for an experienced College Counselor who can partner with students and parents to guide them through the college application process. This position will require someone with a flexible schedule that is able to host presentations and workshops to families outside of standard school hours.

Duties include but are not limited to :
Assist students in researching and creating a college list that fits the student’s interest and goals
Assist seniors in the completion of college and scholarship applications
Conduct individual and group sessions in all areas of college counseling
Write the school recommendations for seniors as part of their application process
Support faculty in writing letters of recommendation
Schedule visits with college representatives, facilitating meetings between representatives and students
Organize events, along with the class counselors, to meet the needs of each grade level to prepare them for career and college exploration
Keep track of admission decisions and scholarships awarded
Use Scoir college counseling platform for career search and college application management
Host a college fair on campus
Visit college campuses when invited with the approval of the Director of Counseling
Coordinate college tours with the students
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Previous experience in guiding college prep students and parents through selective college admissions
Working knowledge of college counseling platforms and Google applications
Knowledge of a wide range of universities, essay writing, and the scholarship and financial aid process
Experience interacting with young adults and their families, school administration, and college admissions offices
Exceptional public speaking, writing, organization, and communication skills
Ability to perform well under pressure and to meet deadlines
Ability to pass a background check
Minimum Qualifications :
Master’s degree in Counseling or related field
State Level K-12 School Counseling Certification
Minimum of two years of successful college counseling
Solid employment history with verifiable references
