Salt Lake Academy High School is a charter school located in Herriman, UT. Our enrollment is 400 with 65 student athletes being a part of the Real Salt Lake professional soccer program. Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused School Counselor to support our high school students academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate will work closely with student-athletes, providing guidance in academic planning, college and career readiness, and mental well-being while understanding the unique demands of balancing athletics and education.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide academic advising, college planning, and career guidance tailored to student-athletes.
Support students' social-emotional development and mental health through individual and group counseling.
Collaborate with teachers, coaches, and parents to create personalized success plans for students.
Develop and implement programs that promote academic achievement, personal growth, and resilience.
Assist students with NCAA eligibility requirements, scholarships, and athletic recruitment processes.
Respond to student concerns, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention when necessary.
Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that aligns with our athletic and academic values.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
Valid Utah School Counselor License.
Experience working in a high school setting (preferably with student-athletes).
Knowledge of NCAA academic requirements and the college recruitment process is a plus.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Passion for supporting student-athletes in their academic and personal development.
