The Faculty Services Team is part of Salt Lake Community College’s (SLCC) division of People and Workplace Culture (PWC). The mission of Faculty Services is to support SLCC’s strategic goals by creating an ethical and welcoming environment for all employees and applicants. We strive to create a positive first impression to new hires within our college environment with a special focus on faculty. The Faculty Services Team provides expert support in faculty employment, on-boarding, compensation, and recruitment. We serve as a trusted partner to academics and an advocate for the college’s mission and values. The Faculty Services Department is committed to delivering outstanding customer service to both the college community and its faculty.

As Faculty Employment Support you will report to the Faculty Services Manager, you will support the Department of Faculty Services hiring processes, on-boarding, orientation, training end users of HRIS and ATS systems, maintaining accurate employee data and personnel files, and providing excellent customer service to internal college departments, applicants, and vendors. To succeed in this role, you should be able to perform under pressure deadlines, confident public speaking experience, comfortable in training situations, supporting change management initiatives, being adaptable in a constantly changing environment, intermediate computer skills, and excellent business relations. A successful candidate will ensure collaboration and professional relationships with the Budget Office, Payroll Office, Provost Office, and all academic administration leadership. Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Responsibilities & Duties :

As a team member you will abide by all college and academic policies and procedures, faculty compensation, and workload policies. You will promote “People and Workplace Culture” initiatives, fostering an environment of safety, equity, inclusion, and belonging for all employees. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, college departments, and internal staff. Ensure Accurate Data of all employee records in all systems and personnel files. Maintain confidentiality of employment and personal data as required.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

Responsibility and Accountability for the following areas :

Faculty Employment, Recruitment, and On-boarding Support :

  • Applicant Support : Help applicants utilize College systems and answer their questions regarding the hiring process. Address any concerns from applicants, hiring managers, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Conduct or facilitate background checks and drug screens.
  • Track and collect transcripts from Adjunct faculty to meet accreditation requirements
  • Assist in developing and presenting in faculty orientation as needed.
  • Processing hiring paperwork and maintaining accurate employee records.

Adjunct Teaching Positions :

  • Conceptualize and learn about adjunct teaching agreements, workload limits, and provide verbal and written clear instruction to others on processes in all areas of resources.
  • Understand the Affordable Care Act and it governs the conditions of employment.
  • Advise hiring managers regarding the best practices.
  • Strong solution finding skills; troubleshooting and prioritizing levels of error resolution.
  • HRIS, ATS systems, Safe Hire Certification :

  • Ability to learn current processes and systems.
  • Develop and maintain written procedures for HRIS and ATS processes.
  • Provide training to end users systems and processes.
  • Support all training and certifications required for SLCC employees.
  • Ensure timely and accurate retrieval and processing of necessary hire paperwork (e.g., transcripts, background checks, PAFs) for personnel files.
  • Assist in entering employee data into the HRIS.
  • Professional Development and Service Opportunities and SLCC Standards :

  • Develop relationships of trust with Academic Leadership.
  • Be familiar with industry and legislative updates impacting SLCC employees.
  • Attend professional trainings when schedule permits.
  • Under direction and guidance of your supervisor : Assist with employment needs in the PWC environment.
  • All SLCC employees must maintain permanent residence / address within the State of Utah to maintain employment. A permanent Utah address must be recorded to Human Resources within 30-days of your employment start date.
  • All employees will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Trade offs for years experience in lieu of degree)

  • Associate degree 2 years or more of related business office experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Requirements :

  • SHRM / HRCI or related certifications
  • Two (2 ) years experience in Human Resources
  • Some employee training experience
  • Recruiting experiences
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and practical use of Microsoft office products (Work, Excel and Outlook)

  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, presentation, reporting, human resource system and applicant tracking software (ATS)
  • Familiar with federal and state regulations, human resources programs and related College policy; i.e : FMLA, ADA, OWBPA, GRAMA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADEA, FLSA, USERRA, Employment Eligibility, EEO, E-Verify, Employment Law, etc.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures
  • Become familiar with The Faculty Handbook for Compensation and Workload
  • Knowledge of college administrative software including imaging software, business English, writing and vocabulary, business math and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and information
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
  • Ability to facilitate work groups with subject matter experts to gather information
  • Ability to write and communicate effectively and concisely
  • Ability to perform research and prepare reports and make presentations
  • Ability to work with sensitive and highly confidential information and keep data secure
  • Be familiar with the Faculty Tenure and Rank processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
