POSITION OVERVIEW :

The Family Services Program Manager is vital in fulfilling Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. This position oversees all aspects of family selection, partnership, and support for Habitat homeowners in the Greater Salt Lake Area. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving the community, organized, empathetic, and capable of working collaboratively with families, staff, and volunteers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  • Oversee the family selection and application process, ensuring compliance with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) guidelines and local policies.
  • Develop and implement programs to support partner families through the homeownership process, including financial education, sweat equity hours, and post-purchase support.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, make improvements or changes that will better serve families and meet organizational goals.

Family Selection

  • Manage outreach efforts to ensure a diverse pool of qualified applicants within the Greater Salt Lake Area.
  • Coordinate and facilitate information sessions, workshops, and interviews for potential homebuyer candidates.
  • Work closely with the Family Services Committee to review applications and determine eligibility.
  • Family Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partner families, offering guidance and resources throughout their journey.
  • Coordinate sweat equity activities and ensure families meet program requirements.
  • Organize financial education and homeownership workshops, covering topics such as budgeting, home maintenance, and mortgage responsibilities.
  • Community Outreach & Collaboration

  • Build relationships with local organizations, agencies, and community leaders to identify and refer families needing affordable housing.
  • Represent Habitat for Humanity at community events, fairs, and networking opportunities.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to promote awareness of family services and the impact of Habitat’s mission.
  • Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of family applications, communications, and progress using Habitat’s database.
  • Prepare reports on program outcomes and family success stories for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with grant applications and reporting as needed.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 years of experience in program management, family services, or community development preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of affordable housing challenges.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with families from varied backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM systems or databases.
  • Knowledge of fair housing laws, financial literacy, and homeownership education is a plus.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT
