General Responsibilities: The Health Director is directly responsible for the health and wellness of all the campers and staff. The Health Director is the individual primarily responsible for reviewing and implementing the medical safety section of the camp’s Safety Plan
Specific Duties: The Health Director will...
- Ensure comprehensive physical examinations and immunization records for each camper are uploaded before the start of the camper’s session
- Review camper and staff medical information/histories and camper information to flag restrictions, allergies, special needs, and social-emotional concerns and coordinate with camp and Village administration on planning protocols
- Survey the health of the campers on a daily basis
- Handle all camper and staff injuries and illnesses including follow up and communicate details of injury and illness with camper/staff families as necessary
- Report to the Camp Director when a camper or staff health condition requires intervention from a higher medical authority
- Report illness and injuries, including reporting camper abuse/allegations to the SCDOH and/or other appropriate authorities, within 24 hours.
- Storage, transportation, and administration of medications as per the Safety Plan
- Maintain the camp medical log in the Campbrain online health center
- Assist with weekly printing and assembling binders for camp groups and leaders
- Ensure there is adequate cleanliness and maintenance of the camp facility/grounds and report any concerns to the Camp Director
- Assist with Staff Orientation and participate in all staff meetings as needed
- Ensure first aid supplies are on hand and stocked in group leader backpacks
- PRE AND POST CAMP: assemble/disassemble first aid kits and complete end of camp inventory
Qualifications: The Medical Director can be a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, emergency medical technician, or other person acceptable to the Department of Health. competent knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and willingness to learn and use new systems, available for the entire recreation season (Health Director laptop, mobile phone, and walkie talkie provided by the Village)

TIME COMMITMENT: REMOTE 5 hours a week beginning May 19 to June 16
ONSITE: June 23-27 (set up week - flexible on-site hours tbd)
Season Hours - June 30 to August 22 (no camp Friday, July 4) 8:00am - 1:00pm, M-F
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and degree/certification
