Job Description:
The Data Center Travel Technician will have responsibility for operations and maintenance at the client’s data center. The candidate will take daily direction from the client’s leadership on-site. Responsibilities include the support of all data center engineering and technology operations, facility and grounds maintenance, and other site support functions. The Data Center Technician will be part of a team that is accountable for the operational performance readiness, reliability, and integrity of the mission-critical infrastructure systems and IT systems.
Must be able to travel up to 90% of the time.

Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of how to properly utilize power tools is required.
- Ability to follow precise instructions.
- Ability to read and understand cabling maps.
- Ability to work at different heights, in confined spaces, and on different surfaces.
- Working knowledge on creating, closing, and tracking work orders.
- Ability to use mobile application technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to respond to supervisors and other project stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Ability to read BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Experience following given SOW (Statement of Work), MOP (Method of Procedures), and/or SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
Responsibilities:
- Perform material movement including shipping/receiving and inventory management per standard process.
- Moves/Adds/Changes (Network hardware devices installation and decommissioning).
- Smart Hands.
- Remote Hands.
- Rack and Stack.
- Break-Fix.
- Inventory tracking and staging.
- Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables.
- Manage or navigate various client-based applications that might include work order tracking, materials ordering/tracking, scheduling, and video conferencing.
- Gain proficiency in company workplace systems for reporting, timecards, expenses, work orders, and the execution of project tasks.
- General Data Center technician tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks.
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly.
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors.
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses.
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables.
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow.
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel and site access identification as required.
