Custodian

Overview

Keep building in clean, orderly and safe condition. Perform cleaning duties (cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, removing trash, etc.), routine maintenance activities and special assignments, as directed.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors (ground and frrst floor) bysweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacumming
• Gather and empty trash
• Service, clean, and supply ground and first floor
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors with cleaner, sponges and squeegees
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets
• Strip, seal, finish and polish floors
• Arrange chairs and tables for meetings, as needed
• Cart and haul away items to dumpster, storage, vehicles, etc., as requested
• Clean snow and/or debris from sidewalks, parking lot and walkways
• Report any concerns and/or issues related to building maintenance/safety matters to Corps Officers
• Recommend, for approval, the purchase of maintenance supplies and services to Corps Officers
• Other duties, as assigned by the Corps Officers
  
  

Qualifications

• Perform job responsibilities in an independent and confident manner
• Able to follow-through with detailed work and scheduled responsibilities
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, usage, repair and maintenance
• Able to identify maintenance needs and repairs for the building
