Garden Center Retail Manager

Job Overview:

A top 50, upscale Garden Center seeks new Retail Manager to oversee store staffing, purchasing of hard goods and pottery and daily customer service interactions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants and gardening, coupled with strong leadership and organizational skills. Applicants need exceptional taste, top tier merchandising skills, a good working knowledge of all things horticulture, previous experience buying, selling and have amazing people skills. You must be a people person. Applicants must have at least 3-5 years of previous experience managing a garden center.

Duties:

- Manage store staff daily
- Recruit, train, and supervise garden center staff
- Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue
- Maintain a visually appealing and well-organized garden center
- Negotiate with suppliers for competitive pricing and quality products - Hard goods, pottery and some green goods
- Oversee employee orientation and performance evaluations
- Utilize POS systems for transactions and inventory management

-Daily customer service

- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, employees, and suppliers
- Strong customer service orientation to ensure customer satisfaction
- Experience in recruiting, training, and managing employees
- Ability to buy products strategically to meet customer demand and taste
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage inventory
- Proficiency in POS systems for sales transactions and inventory control
- Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers for favorable terms
- Sales management experience to drive revenue growth
