Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related field. One year of experience in a related field. Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA) certification preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs semi-complex administrative and supervisory program work for the Athletic Department.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages aspects of equipment and apparel such as (purchase, control, distribution, maintenance, and recovery) for assigned sports within the Department of Athletics. Follows all University and state purchasing guidelines. Maintains inventory, maintenance, and checkout records of equipment to student athletes, as described by internal audit guidelines. Manages equipment maintenance and safety regulations to ensure safety guidelines are followed to protect student athletes. Works with Sports Med researching innovations in performance and safety. Ensures teams and vendors meet established branding guidelines. Packs and transports equipment for out of town athletic contests. Ensures that equipment meets all safety guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Must have skills to set up a computerized inventory and checkout system. Incumbent is expected to develop an appropriate rapport with the athletic teams, community, and university students, staff and faculty. Must be knowledgeable of all NCAA and conference rules. Must adhere to NCAA and conference bylaws. Must be supportive of institutional compliance and academic programs. Must report all NCAA and conference violations to proper personnel.
Position requires driving and operating a university vehicle; therefore, a valid Texas driver license and driving record acceptable to the university's insurance carrier is required. Attention and care is required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self and others.
