Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain to lead and manage the global procurement of essential raw materials and products, including minerals, vitamins, amino acids, protein, enzymes, and other feed, fertilizer, and human nutrition products. The ideal candidate will have a strong international purchasing background, a proven ability to navigate global supply chains, and excellent leadership skills to guide the procurement and sourcing teams. This role will require frequent travel to international locations to meet with suppliers, monitor trends, and evaluate new product opportunities.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing procurement, sourcing new products to meet customer needs, and optimizing supply chain processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. This role is critical to ensuring that our animal feed products, human nutrition offerings, and related materials are of the highest quality and readily available to meet market demands.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Global Procurement Strategy & Sourcing:

  • Lead the strategic sourcing of minerals, vitamins, amino acids, proteins, enzymes, and other raw materials for animal feed, fertilizer, and human nutrition products on a global scale.
  • Drive initiatives to source new products that meet customer requirements and market demands.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to secure long-term, cost-effective supplier relationships, balancing quality, price, and delivery timelines.
  • Analyze market trends, identify new suppliers, and expand the companys global supply base.
  • Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and product development teams to align sourcing strategies with new product innovations.

2. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor the global procurement and planning teams, ensuring their growth, skill development, and alignment with company goals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the purchasing and supply chain teams.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and set performance goals to ensure team success.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to address any procurement or supply chain challenges and align on solutions.

3. Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process, from supplier selection to final delivery of products, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes to minimize waste, reduce costs, and streamline operations.
  • Implement and maintain robust supply chain management systems, ensuring optimal stock levels and inventory control.
  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate disruptions and ensure continuity of supply, especially during global supply chain challenges.

4. International Travel & Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Regularly travel to global supplier locations, attend trade shows, and establish relationships with key international vendors.
  • Conduct supplier audits, negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms, and ensure compliance with international standards and regulations.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring mutual trust and collaboration to meet business objectives.
  • Monitor the performance of key suppliers and ensure they meet quality, delivery, and cost expectations.

5. Strategic Projects & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Lead cross-functional projects to source and procure new products that address customer demands and market gaps.
  • Work with sales, marketing, and product teams to gather market insights and develop sourcing strategies aligned with customer needs.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership on supply chain performance, opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Ensure the timely execution of product launches and special sourcing initiatives.

6. Reporting & Financial Oversight:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, supply chain performance, and financials.
  • Ensure that procurement budgets are met, and cost savings targets are achieved through strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality or service levels.

7. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure all sourcing activities are in compliance with international trade laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Stay up-to-date on global trade regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices to mitigate legal and financial risks.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to manage supplier contracts, agreements, and negotiations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Trade, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in global purchasing and supply chain management, with a strong focus on sourcing feed, fertilizer, and nutrition products.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, especially in an international environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of global supply chains, procurement strategies, and international trade regulations.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 40% of the time.
  • Familiarity with supply chain software and procurement tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar systems).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with animal feed, human nutrition, and fertilizer industries.
  • Strong understanding of environmental sustainability in sourcing and procurement.
  • Multilingual proficiency is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically as needed.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and participate in meetings or presentations both in person and virtually.
