What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor position at Samaritan Health?
Pay Range: $22.11 - $35.37
Under supervision of Program Director, provides chemical dependency counseling services to persons suffering from substance abuse and or addictions and their families/significant others. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
· Associate’s degree in chemical dependency counseling or related human service field preferred.
· Minimum of one year experience providing direct counseling services to persons suffering from alcoholism and alcohol abuse and their families preferred.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Demonstration of knowledge of adherence to OASAS clinical competencies.
· CASAC - Certified as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State or a qualified health professional recognized by the Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services in New York State.
· CASAC –in- Training – certification from OASAS of NY State. Examples of eligible applicants as qualified health professional other than CASAC or CASAC-T include: New York State licensed mental health counselor, certified rehabilitation counselor, recreational therapist with a Baccalaureate degree certified by the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation, and Family therapist accredited by the AAMFT.
