DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: As a Public Health Nurse II (PHN II), you will play a pivotal role in coordinating Maternal Health services within Sampson County. Your expertise in advanced Public Health Nursing will be key to delivering compassionate care and education that aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. You will be responsible for ensuring that all pregnant women and their families have access to high-quality maternity care, offering support throughout their journey. In this role, you'll lead a team of dedicated staff at the maternity clinic, guiding them to adhere to state policies and procedures while fostering a collaborative and efficient environment. Your leadership and commitment will be essential in ensuring that every patient receives the care and attention they deserve.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: You will need to have a solid foundation in the principles, theories, and practices of nursing, particularly in the realm of Public Health. You will need to be well-versed in utilizing advanced nursing techniques to support a diverse community. A deep understanding of the core principles of Public Health, including the ability to navigate and implement strategies that address health disparities and improve access to care, is needed. Your knowledge of local resources and organizations will be essential in ensuring that families receive the support they need throughout their care journey. As a coordinator, you'll guide and oversee a team, ensuring that their work aligns with state policies. Your ability to foster a positive and effective working environment will be essential in supporting the team's success. You will need strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and professionalism, while making informed decisions that enhance patient care. Your ability to work closely with patients and other service providers will be key in gathering vital information and maintaining strong relationships. A keen eye for detail when documenting patient care and interpreting medical records is important. Proficiency in computer systems will allow you to communicate effectively, maintain accurate patient records, and access crucial information.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Preferred graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or Master's in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
