Role Overview:
- Lead services for children via the Child Health Program.
- Coordinate and implement the Immunization Program, aiming to diminish morbidity and mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases.
- Oversee surveillance, reporting, investigation, and follow-up for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases.
- Ensure the Child Health Program's standards align with state requirements.
- Hold and maintain the Child Health Enhanced Role Nurse Rostering.
- Operate as a Public Health Nurse III, supervising two PHN II staff and two foreign language interpreters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Nursing (including a Public Health Nursing rotation) and 2 years of Public Health nursing experience; or
- Master's in Public Health, graduation from a school of professional nursing, and 2 years of professional nursing experience; or
- Graduation from a school of professional nursing with 3 years of experience (including 2 years in Public Health nursing); or
- A blend of education and experience that is equivalent.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N.C. Board of Nursing.

Description of Work:
To provide services to the children of Sampson County through the Child Health Program. To provide coordination and implementation of the Immunization Program to citizens of Sampson County. To reduce morbidity and mortality by prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases through the Immunization Program. To provide surveillance, reporting, investigation, treatment and follow-up of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases. The Child Health Program Coordinator is responsible for obtaining and maintaining the Child Health Enhanced Role Nurse Rostering; will comply with all State requirements for the program, including required clinical hours and continuing education hours. Responsible for ensuring the Child Health Program standards are compliant with State requirements/recommendations. Functions as a Public Health Nurse III in the expanded role with duties in supervision of two PHN II positions and two foreign language interpreters.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master's in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the N. C. Board of Nursing
