Role & Responsibilities
We are looking for a high-potential candidate to join Samsung Electronics’ NA Fintech Business team as a General Manager of the Consumer Credit Finance program. The GM will work closely with product teams, marketing teams, business development teams, current and future financial institution partners, and Fintech partners to create the journey of Samsung Electronics’ Fintech business vision.
This is both a partner relationship and a commercial role, reporting directly to the EVP, Head of NA Fintech Business. You will drive the strategic direction of Consumer Credit Finance program initiatives, ensuring effective implementation with partner banks and internal resources.
This role requires experience in building and growing a co-branded credit card portfolio or other consumer finance products, including driving sales conversion, new account acquisition, customer engagement, loyalty metrics, and profit requirements established by the Fintech business leadership.
Leadership and commercialization
- Provide overall commercial leadership and execution of the consumer credit finance program and ensure that strategic initiatives are effectively implemented by leveraging issuing bank partnerships and internal resources
- Develop strategies to support customer acquisition through Samsung Wallet, Samsung.com, existing distribution partners, and explore the white space within new channels
- Manage the relationship with the partner bank(s) to optimize key program elements such as regulatory compliance, technology development, marketing implementation, marketing channel development, customer offer strategies, existing customer marketing and retention, and overall strategic planning
- Work with legal and sourcing to lead contractual negotiations with all payment partners and issuing bank
- Manage the payments network provider relationship, bringing collaborative insights to marketing and loyalty and optimizing network provider resources that support overall loyalty and credit card program growth
- Stay informed on the competitive landscape of consumer credit finance marketing, value proposition, customer offers, product and channel functionality, and adjust strategies accordingly
- Own the fiscal responsibility of the credit card portfolio, partnering with finance liaison to create and deliver budgets, projections, and key performance targets
- Enhance programs and processes to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and improve customer acquisition across all channels.
Customer engagement and marketing
- Work with Fintech Partnership and Product Managers to innovate new offers, value propositions, and technology features to drive adoption and usage of overall consumer credit finance program
- Collaborate with partner bank(s), marketing, and loyalty to develop communication tools, customer analytics, financial strategy, and marketing vehicles that support the growth of the consumer credit finance program and overall loyalty program
- Be the champion of communicating and promoting the initiative throughout the Samsung Electronics
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 15 years of credit card or other consumer finance program management experience, including product management, value proposition development, omni-channel marketing, and P&L management.
- Familiarity with retail loyalty programs and integration with external partners
- 8 years of leadership experience.
- Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve complex problems, and navigate large, global organizations
- Ability to work proficiently in highly technical settings, leveraging product management and development teams during negotiations and implementation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA preferred
- Experience in large-scale, mobile-first applications and services
- Proven partnership success in financial services, financial technology, and payments industries
- Familiarity with financial technical infrastructure (e.g. processors and card networks)
- Ability to navigate international cultures and work across time zones and willingness to work with a remotely located development and design teams
- Able to travel domestically or internationally, when required, to meet partners, development team, or other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Korean language is desirable, but not mandatory
