Description
The Junior Camp Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our camps by supervising Camp Counselors and/or Specialists while assisting the Senior Coordinator in daily duties.
This position requires creating a positive and safe environment for all campers and staff, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise children under their care to ensure a positive and safe experience.
- Actively supervise Camp Counselors and/or Specialists in designated programs, providing constructive feedback to staff as needed.
- Maintain a safe camp environment and respond promptly to any incidents, illnesses, or situations that arise.
- Assist with parent communication, including emails, under the direction of the Camp Director.
- Foster the emotional and social well-being of campers through positive behavior management, supportive interactions, and conflict resolution.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
- Inform the Camp Director immediately of any concerns that arise with campers, staff, parents/guardians, or community members.
- Collaborate with the Camp Director and other members of the camp leadership team, sharing recommendations and concerns as necessary.
- Work closely under the direction of a Senior Coordinator, assisting them in daily operations.
- Join groups that require extra support as needed.
- Represent the SJCC positively both within and outside the organization.
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Be available to work weekends and evenings as needed to meet deadlines and scheduling requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, obtained through an approved certifying body (or willingness to become certified).
- Experience working with children is preferred, but not required.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new situations is essential.
