**Actively seeking Line Technicians for both days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and evenings (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) working an ideal schedule of ½ of the month!**

Job Title: Line Technician

Department: Production

Direct Report: Shift Manager

Education/Experience Required:

  • Previous extruder operator experience
  • Leadership and/or previous supervisory experience a plus
  • Experience of previous technical related responsibilities
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods
  • Frequent lifting of up to 65 pounds
  • Bending and squatting
  • Stooping
  • Reaching
  • Repetitive arm andupper body action and movement
  • Exposure to dust, frequent loud noise, varying temperatures in theplant

  • Lead by example and communicate safety issues to all employees & the Safety and/or Production Manager.

Job Description

  • Ensure line is producing product that is within specifications and as close to nominal as possible; while maintaining correct draw ratios, annealing ratio (relax).
  • Ensure hourly that dryers are maintaining a “Full” status, and if not communicate to Blending.
  • Check product periodically to ensure the QC Tech is recording his/her quality test results accurately and the product is within specification (visual inspection) QC satellite should be checked after each set of lab samples performed.
  • When using pellet color, visually check color hoppers each hour to ensure hopper is full
  • Check dryer’s temperature and dew point
  • Check process parameters every hour and record using the Hourly Checklist
  • Perform Line Conditions, making sure to use this as an opportunity to thoroughly inspect and scrutinize the process.
  • Keep the lines clean, maintaining all 5S areas at the extruder and winder areas, water off the floor and tools picked up
  • ALL paperwork turned in is free of mistakes and all physical counts are correct.
  • Ensure legibility of all paperwork submitted
  • Assist Maintenance personnel when needed
  • Restring the broken straps and/or startup line when needed
  • Assist other technicians as needed
  • Assist in grinding scrap generated from line breaks and changeovers
  • Watch for and correct any safety hazards possible. Report all safety hazards to your Shift Manager
  • Will be responsible for all aspects of line operation and/or blending for specific line
  • Conduct yourself with courtesy and professionalism to others at all times.
  • Fill out and submit work orders or safety work orders for anything in your direct work area that needs repair.
  • Maintain and inspect PPE. If damaged, get with your shift manager for replacement.
  • Work overtime as requested by management and as needed
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

WINDER AREA SPECIFIC

  • All aspects of winders checked at the beginning of the shift and periodically throughout the shift, including (but not limited to): programs, tensions, print quality.
  • Maintain that consistent, correct and quality winds will be produced all night through education and action. Correct any issues that will prevent this from occurring.
  • Verification of heading information and packaging verification on production log sheets
  • Verify that 10, 1 & 4 count verifications are being performed and performed correctly.
  • Ensure legibility of all production log sheets
  • Ensure that samples are pulled on time, 100% of the time.
  • Periodic checks are made for surface blemishes, ink spots, rough edges, etc.
  • Periodically inspect the unused guides on the guide rack for free motion of the guide on the pin, damage to the guide & lack of play between the guide and the pin. If any of these exist, take measures to get them repaired or inform your shift manager if you cannot.
  • Notify Line Operators if leaving the line for anything (breaks, etc.)
  • RELIEVE LINE OPERATORS FOR BREAKS
  • Make a visual examination of each finished skid for correct packaging, palletizing, and beginning and ending label– Then assist in scanning, stretch wrapping and stacking the skids in their proper place.
  • Pay attention to coil weights throughout the shift, as changes in these weights can indicate problems with the line. Be prepared to react and resolve coil and/or skid weight issues correctly.
  • Train Line Operators and ensure that they understand what they have learned. Communicate all training to your shift manager for proper documentation in employee training files.
  • Ensure that Line Operators follow all Safety expectations and report to shift manager if they do not.
  • Ensure the Line Operators have the correct operating supplies
  • Ensure that Line Operators follow all Work Instructions, Procedures, and Policies
  • Train Line Operators so they know what to do if the line stops and the location of all emergency stops

BLENDING AREA SPECIFIC

  • Hourly checklists will be performed in a timely manner and information is visually accurate. Checking dryer levels should consist of a visual inspection of sight glasses and the bin full light on the Selectronic control box for the dryer loader.
  • No polypropylene gaylords (boxes) will EVER be mistakenly used for rework. These gaylords MUST be thrown away when empty.
  • All cardboard, scrap skid and broken down gaylords will be stored and disposed of in the proper locations.
  • All skids will be blown off before a box or bag of resin is inserted into a dumper for use.
  • No dumpers are to be in the “UP” position, unless resin is being dumped
  • Ensure all blend changes are performed correctly, including: start and end times filled in on the blend sheets, recipe entry correct, shift totals cleared when a new blend is started, calibrations performed correctly, bulk density setting correct (if applicable), etc.
  • Ensure when a row of resin on a blend sheet is completed with multiple rows listed; that it is marked out on the blend sheet.
  • Both blending decks are to be maintained and in good order.
  • Periodic checks of blender alarms (more than once per hour). Alarms should be addressed and the appropriate action should be taken to correct the issue and ensure there are no reoccurring issues.
  • Ensure spare parts and tools are stored correctly and properly placed back where they belong; this is completed during every shift.
  • Communicate relevant blending issues to the incoming blending technician.

ROBOT AREA SPECIFIC

  • Use of HMI to manage robotic cells, such as understanding, resolving, and clearing errors.
  • Respect and follow guidelines for safety light curtains and magnetically controlled cell doors
  • Load and verify that the correct job setup has been input into the HMIs as necessary
  • Loading the correct pallets in the correct orientation and manner as well as bottom sheets
  • Remove scrap pallet from Bay 3 every time a coil gets placed onto the pallet
  • Ensure that the correct consumables (donuts and slip sheets) have been correctly loaded into the cells
  • Replace wrapping material and labelling material as needed
  • Follow Work Instructions for all tasks related to operation of the Robot Cells
