Qualifications
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer to develop spreadsheets, maintain databases, and perform word processing
Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to operate multi-line phone system

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Reception
- Receive and direct calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
- Greet and direct visitors.
- Maintain visitor log, conduct background check of visitors, and issue visitor badges.
- Assist parents in checking students in and out of school, receiving and distributing student materials, and answering questions.
- In the absence of the school nurse, follow the medical protocols in administering students' medication, taking temperatures, and notifying parents.
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day including before and after school, inside and outside the classroom, in hallways, in the cafeteria, at drop-off and pick-up locations, on the playground, and in other areas as assigned.
- Assist with scheduling teacher-parent conferences.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail, messages, documents, and other deliveries.
- Assist with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels and envelopes.
- Maintain computerized files, including reports, staff and student rosters, and mailing lists.

- Participate in professional learning programs, staff meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Maintain familiarity with the district initiatives to better serve the needs of students.
- Articulate the district's mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and district information.
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including prolonged use of computer, printer, peripherals, telephone
- Posture: Prolonged sitting and moderate standing, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, reaching/lifting
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, keyboarding, use of mouse, wrist flexion/extension
- Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance
- Environment: Work is performed in an office setting; occasional in-district travel; occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
