General Description:
This position leads and oversees a major portion of the Food Bank’s fundraising effort. The Director leads the fundraising work with major donors (corp, org, ind). The primary objective is to lead the Philanthropy Team in effectively planning, developing, and implementing a fundraising plan for individual and major gift donors including, but not limited to, the identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and tracking of such donors. The Director of Philanthropy and oversees a staff of Philanthropy Managers, Special Events Manager and Food and Fund Drive Coordinator.
Essential Functions:

Prepare and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to engage major donors that meets planned expectations and goals of the organization, as determined by the CEO and CSO.

Working closely with the CSO to design and implement a strategy to identify, solicit and cultivate relationships with major donors.

Lead/Assist in the preparation of written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications for major gifts donors and planned giving prospects.

Oversee the Philanthropy Managers in developing strategies for their portfolios to meet established goals.

Lead and oversee all Signature Events and Third-Party Events, as well as all seasonal fundraising campaigns. Supervise the Special Events Manager.

Lead and oversee all food/fund drives, including daily oversight for the Food/Fund Drive Coordinator.

Manage the philanthropy team in the use of Salesforce daily.

Staff donor events as needed to meet and greet Major Giving donors and prospects.

Provide personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for individuals as needed.

To comply with all policies and guidelines, and accept additional duties as assigned by the Chief Sustainability Officer.

Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent related work experience. Master’s or Certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in fund development or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience of full-time paid staff.
- Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in database management. Salesforce preferred.
- Good judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to organize work, time, and self.
- Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
- Strong presentation skills and experience in public speaking.
- Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
- Night and weekend work is required and routine.
- Ability to travel as needed; Reliable transportation required.
- Possession of a current Texas driver's license, liability insurance and a clean driving record.

Work Environment
This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
