GENERAL SUMMARY
Assists in the development, operation, and maintenance of River Authority Park properties and paddling trails.

Immediately report injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous safety improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Conducts routine patrols of parks grounds and interacts with the public; inspects River Authority assets to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience to our constituents.
- Maintains Saspamco and Goliad paddling trails.
- May performs guided paddling trips; and implement paddling clean up events.
- Reports daily status updates for ongoing projects and tasks to the Park Crewleader.
- Operates Park vehicles, motorized equipment, and boats and performs routine maintenance.
- Performs tasks requiring basic skills in vegetative management, general construction, farm and ranch work, facility, and grounds maintenance.
- Fosters good public relations and communication with the public on proper rules and regulations governing a safe and enjoyable park experience.
- Operates mowers and tractors to maintain desirable vegetation.
- Applies pesticides and herbicides for control of insects and noxious weeds following safe and acknowledged label procedures under general supervision.
- May operate and maintain a splash pad.
- Performs related work as required.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
- This position does not directly supervise any employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Park Technician I: A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and two (2) year of experience in working outdoors, building and/or grounds and park maintenance with physical labor involved; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Park Technician II: A High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and three (3) years’ of experience in working outdoors, building and/or grounds and park maintenance with physical labor involved; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Within six (6) months of employment: ability to attain a “Handlers Verification Card” for herbicide application; attain a Texas Parks & Wildlife Boater Safety card; obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
- Obtain a Certified Pool operator license and Splash pad certification within one (1) year of employment.
- Confined space entry certification within (1) one year of employment
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
