The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The San Antonio Zoo is seeking a highly organized and creative Design Project Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all design projects are executed efficiently, align with the zoo's mission and brand, and are completed on schedule. The Design Project Coordinator will act as the bridge between the design team and other departments, managing timelines, resources, and communication to deliver exceptional visual materials that enhance our guest experience and support organizational goals.

Assists the Project Manager to:
- Coordinate and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of design projects, from concept to completion.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand project goals, target audiences, and deliverable requirements.
- Maintain and monitor project schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and priorities are clearly communicated.
- Act as the primary liaison between the design team and other zoo departments, facilitating effective communication and alignment.
- Organize and lead project meetings to review progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with objectives.
- Oversee the production of graphic materials for various initiatives, including marketing campaigns, educational programs, signage, events, and digital platforms.
- Ensure that all designs adhere to the zoo’s branding guidelines and maintain a high standard of quality.
- Track project budgets and expenses, providing regular updates to leadership.
- Manage external vendors and contractors when necessary for specialized design or production work.
- Stay updated on design and project management best practices, tools, and technologies.
- Consistently exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
- Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo® to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and animals we protect.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Project Management, Marketing, or a related field highly desirable.
- 2-4 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in a creative or design-focused role.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, Monday.com).
- Have a sharp "designer's eye" to relay vast amounts of information in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
- Willingness to learn new skills, master new techniques, while continuing to develop current skills and abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of print and digital production processes is a plus.
- Experience in designing graphics, brochures, and design tools preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve, adapt to changes, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of and ability to follow proper safety procedures, as well as the ability to work safely in various environments.
- Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- Responsible for completing all online training courses by assigned deadlines.
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.
- We enjoy year-round operation for all staff, must be available day, nights, weekends, and occasional special after-hour assignments.
