In this itinerant position, the teacher will develop and implement a high-quality dance program aligned with the California Visual and Performing Arts Framework, fostering students' artistic expression, physical development, and appreciation for dance.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and implement an engaging, standards-aligned dance curriculum suitable for students at various grade levels across multiple district locations.
- Foster an inclusive, creative, and inspiring classroom environment that encourages student participation and promotes self-expression through dance.
- Effectively integrate instructional technology and various resources to enrich students' educational experiences in dance.
- Regularly assess student performance, adapt instructional strategies based on assessment results, and clearly communicate student progress to parents and school staff.
- Coordinate and prepare students for performances, shows, and community engagement events at school, district, and regional levels.
- Collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, and parents to ensure a cohesive district-wide dance program.
- Actively participate in Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) department meetings, professional development sessions, and district-sponsored arts events.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned, particularly during district emergencies, crises, or special circumstances.
- Valid California K-12 Single Subject Credential in Dance, Physical Education (issued prior to January 1, 2022), or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Dance or Physical Education Supplement.
- English Language Learner Authorization (CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dance, Dance Education, or Kinesiology.
- Experience creating and delivering comprehensive, developmentally appropriate dance instruction.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Valid California driver's license and reliable personal transportation for district-wide travel (auto liability insurance required).
- Physical stamina and agility to actively engage in instructional dance activities, including prolonged periods of demonstration and classroom management.
- Adequate visual and auditory capabilities necessary for effective instruction and interaction with students.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Valid California Single Subject Credential in Dance or relevant credential with EL authorization.
- Competitive annual salary: $66,593 – $121,493, dependent on education, credentials, and experience.
